Relive Portlaoise secondary school's big All-Ireland Basketball #watch

Hoop dreams come true for mighty Laois school

Scoil Chríost Rí Portlaoise were crowned All-Ireland Basketball Champions for the second year running at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght.

The U-16 'A' basketball team defeated Crescent Comprehensive College from Limerick in the Subway sponsored All Ireland U16 A Schools Final on Thursday, January 25.

FULL MATCH REPORT

Chríost Rí secured victory on a scoreline of 68-36, as a commanding display left the Limerick girls with no response. Portlaoise lead 14-9 at the end of the first quarter, after little had separated the teams for much of the opening stages.

An MVP display from Portlaoise teen Shauna Dooley was the driving force behind the school’s back-to-back wins, and she, along with Sarah Fleming, Grainne O’Reilly and Ciara Byrne proved to be too much for Crescent Comprehensive.
