The Taoiseach Micheál Martin came to Laois this weekend to kick off a year of national celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of Fianna Fáil.
He joined the Laois party faithful and current and past elected members in the Midlands Park Hotel for a gala dinner, including Laois TD Sean Fleming, former MEP Liam Hyland, Senator Fiona O'Loughlin, with former Taoiseach Brian Cowen and MEP Barry Cowen also expected to attend.
He spoke to the Leinster Express / Laois Live about the future potential of Laois and how will his party realise that in years to come.
The Taoiseach noted that Laois is growing in population, and with that comes the need for housing, business support and infrastruction, mentioning in particular the Mountmellick flood relief scheme, which is awaiting planning approval by An Coimisiún Pleanála.
