Laois is 'an exemplar" for Ireland to follow in building social homes, the Minister for Housing James Browne said, while cutting the ribbon on three new estates in Mountmellick, Portlaoise and Stradbally on Friday, February 13.
The Minister visited Francis Dunne Court with 49 homes built and sold to the council by Cubic Housing, and Harbour Court with another 6 in Mountmellick, Rath Rua with 83 homes in Portlaoise built by Tuath Housing, and 26 at Carraig Glas in Stradbally directly built by the council.
Laois County Council CEO Michael Rainey confirmed that many more are planned, as the county continues to smash the social housing targets set to it by Government.
