WATCH: Final farewells for retiring Laois county councillor

Warm tributes for Fianna Fáil Cllr Padraig Fleming and his family

Cllr Padraig Fleming received a warm and affectionate farewell at his last Laois County Council meeting this Monday, March 30.

The Fianna Fáil councillor and brother of TD Sean Fleming has retired early for health reasons, after serving 17 years as a public representative. The council chambers were filled to the brim with his family, friends, Laois Fianna Fáil members and Laois County Council staff and management, with fond tributes paid to Cllr Fleming.

Cllr Fleming's wife Catherine and daughters Avril and Stephanie joined him with his grandchildren Evie, Finn, Lucy Ollie and Jamie, while his daughter Stephanie joined in a video call from Darwin, Australia. Full report to follow.
