Rivers in and near Mountmellick, Laois are at flood level, with surrounding lands flooded either side of the town.
It is five years since Mountmellick suffered a catastrophic flood that flooded some 90 homes and businesses.
After heavy rains this week, the Owenass, Triogue and Barrow rivers burst their banks, with fields around them flooded.
Our video shows the Owenass River beside the N80 road in Mountmellick as gusty winds whip along the river.
The OPW's statistics show that the Borness flood plains down the Barrow river towards Portarlington, reached flood level (green line) during the previous night and remain at the level through Thursday. (graph below).

Met Éireann is forecasting continued showers into Friday morning, easing then returning on Friday night. Saturday will bring scattered showers and gusty rain while by Sunday night temperatures will drop well below freezing.
