President of Ireland Michael D Higgins with wife Sabina launched the 2024 National Ploughing Championships to big crowds, and afterwards had a special word for Laois - watch to the end of the video. The Shanahoe School Marching Band did the county proud in their red capes playing the Presidential Salute and National Anthem. The championships continue until Thursday evening in Ratheniska.
