WATCH: Sod turned on €6.5m extension to ESB training centre in Portlaoise

Leading apprenticeship college is expanding with more Laois jobs

The ESB 's national training centre in Portlaoise is expanding with more jobs and apprenticeships. 

Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless TD has turned the sod this Thursday, October 30 on a new €6.5m two storey extension, to be built by September 2026.

Minister of State at the Department of Further and Higher Education Marian Harkin joined him at the event along with Laois politicians and Nicholas Tarrant, Managing Director of ESB Networks.  The ESB Networks Training Centre already has 70 staff and 450 trainees, including the highest percentage of female apprentices in Ireland.
