WATCH: Official opening of Laois village's first ever café

"Pancakes!" Camross community celebrate Poet's Cottage Café

Life in a Laois village has been transformed with the arrival of a community café, with young and old celebrating its official opening on Friday, November 28. The ribbon was cut on the Poet's Cottage Café by Fr Brian Griffin and Rev Victor Fitzpatrick with Laois County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Barry Walsh.

It is the result of hard work by the Camross heritage committee and volunteers, and funding by the EU Just Transition program. It now employs nearly a dozen local people and is serving both as a social hub and a tourist attraction. Camross Comhaltas provided live music and Laois County Council CEO Michael Rainey 'what you're doing is a light for a lot of other rural communities". More to follow.
