Our Laois Rose of Tralee Katelyn Cummins was unrecognisable this week, with her and partner Leonardo Lini donning spooky costumes for Dancing With the Stars' Fright Night episode.
Katelyn and Leonardo danced a thrilling cha-cha-cha to ‘Break My Heart’ by Dua Lipa, earning a whopping 34 points!
Last week, the pair had won immunity for this week's episode, meaning they had no fear of ending in a dance off.
The programme's judges had mixed reactions to their performance however, with Brian Redmond remarking on the standard he expects from the pair.
"You did look nice and relaxed, but I think you went a bit too far with it though. Technically, your legs were all placed very well but I think you could have just settled into it better," he said.
The judge was met with disagreeing boos from the audience.
"Just a little bit more, I'm expecting high standards from you, don't relax too much," he finished.
Judge Karen Byrne 'categorically; disagreed with her fellow judge.
"Immunity looks lovely on you," Karen told the pair.
"You could've just sat back and chilled, but there was nothing chill about the techniques, the legs, it was so precise and so neat, don't mind Mr Grumpy," Karen said.
Judge Oti Mabuse jokingly referred to Brian Redmond as 'the Grim Reaper', hailing the performance as brilliant.
"You were relaxed, you had time to be flirty with Leonardo, to be cheeky. Great legs, great content, great mixture between sharp and soft, great cha cha cha," Oti applauded.
Arthur Gourounlian also had praise for Katelyn and Leonardo.
"Immunity or not, your cha cha cha walked out on a mission, and you smashed it once again!" he said.
"The cha cha cha demands a lot of attention, and you didn't hold back. I was so excited," he praised.
The pair earned a whopping 34 points, with nine points from Karen, Oti and Arthur, and seven points from Brian.
Our Laois Rose admitted that she was delighted following the dance.
"I didn't want people to think that me getting immunity would mean I'd relax, I think we showed that we put in the hard work this week, so I'm really, really happy," Katelyn said.
"It doesn't feel very different performing with immunity, you still get nervous dancing every week and want to preform your very best. It's nice knowing that I won't be in the dance off," she said.
Leonardo praised Katelyn's dancing, explaining that while many people believe she is a great ballroom dancer, he also thinks she is a brilliant Latin dancer.
Anne Cassin became the fourth celebrity to be eliminated from the competition this evening. After the first Dance-Off of the season on this week’s Fright Night special, Anne Cassin and pro partner Robert Rowiński received the lowest combined scores from the judges and public votes.
The show culminated in a pro dance to “The Dead Dance” by Lady Gaga. Next week is Boy Bands V Girl Groups Night, airing on Sunday 15 February from 6:30pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.
Laois locals are bursting with pride over Katelyn and Leonardo's performance on Sunday, expressing their pride in her hard work and great effort. We could not be prouder of our Laois Rose!
