Snow and sleet has fallen in Mountmellick but the town's roads were clear on Thursday morning.
However, snow continues to fall in Laois.
Met Éireann says sleet and snow will continue over the northern half of the country this afternoon, but it will turn mainly to rain and sleet further south.
