People in Stradbally have been invited to a public meeting regarding the traffic management plan for this year’s Electric Picnic.

Thousands of festival-goers will make their way to Stradbally for this year’s Electric Picnic which will run from Friday, August 28 to Sunday, August 30.

Huge acts have been announced for this year’s festival, including Fontaines DC, Gorillaz, Sombr, Zara Larsson and CMAT.

In recent weeks, Laois County Council served notice of its intention to temporarily close roads during the festival, including the L3837-0 from Timogue Cross to Court Square, Stradbally and the R-427-84 from Cahill’s Cross to Abel’s Corner, Stradbally.

These roads will be closed from 10am on Thursday, August 27 until 4pm on Monday, August 31. Local access will be maintained and appropriate signage will be in place to divert traffic along the alternative routes.

The council stated that the closure is necessary to facilitate the traffic management plans for the festival at Stradbally Hall.

The closing date for any observations on the plans is 4pm today, July 21.

The Electric Picnic Residents Committee have announced that a briefing will be held for anyone living in Stradbally.

Festival Republic and An Garda Síochána will host the meeting regarding the road traffic management plan on Friday, July 31 from 7.30pm until 8.30pm.

All residents in the area are invited along to St Colman’s National School for the meeting which will address any queries arising from the road traffic management plan.
