There was a very Irish moment at Electric Picnic on Friday as a crowd sheltering from the rain in Stradbally performed an impromptu Irish dance routine.

As a downpour hit on Friday, Stradbally boy and All-Ireland champion Irish dancer Bobby Kinsella led the crowd in a dance as a cheery jig played over the speakers at the rain-soaked venue.

Complete with one guy holding his pint of Guinness in his mouth as he danced and clapped along and parents with their child safely under a rain cover in a stroller, the scene was just about the most Irish thing you’ve ever seen.

Thousands of people have watched the clip on the Leinster Express/Laois Live Facebook and Instagram accounts, lapping up the high spirits of the festivalgoers despite the miserable rainy scene unfolding in the background.

One person wrote, “well done to all,” while another praised young Bobby Kinsella for his top notch dance moves.

A commenter on Instagram said: “Reminds me of Father Ted, Irish dancing in caravan.”
