More than 250 people attended a public information event at the Killeshin Hotel in Portlaoise on Friday to discuss healthy ageing and supporting older people to remain independent, active and connected in their communities.
Hosted by Laois TD William Aird, the event was chaired by journalist and author Terry Prone, founder of the Communications Clinic and presenter of the Grey Matters podcast.
The panel included healthcare specialist Professor Des O’Neill, architect Rodd Bond, Nina Carberry MEP and former HSE manager Dr Ann Coyle.
Discussions focused on helping people remain in their own homes for longer, maintaining social connections and making Laois a more age-friendly county.
