Congratulations from the Mountrath & District Camera Club to to Heather Rice on winning second place in the Irish Photographic Federation's Midlands & West Region's Nature Photographer of the year regional rounds which were held in Portlaoise on 23rd January. Ballyfin Vintage & Veteran Club held their first Die-Cast & Model Toy show at the Community Hall, Ballyfin on Sunday, January 31. An enjoyable day was had by all, young and old, with a great turnout.

The club's annual table quiz took place at the Deadmans Inn, Ballyfin on Friday, January 29. With 33 teams partaking, an enjoyable evening was had by all present with €3000 raised in support of ONE (Our New Ears) which is part of DeafHear.ie (formerly the National Association for the Deaf). Condolences to the family of the late Fr Patrick Jude (Paddy) Hyland, (St. Patrick's Missionary Society, Kiltegan and formerly of Larch Hill House, Mountrath and Kericho, Kenya who died on February 1 at Larch Hill House (suddenly). Sadly missed by his sisters, Carmel, Attracta, Teresa, Patricia, his brothers Michael and Dan, extended family and by his Society family. Reposed at Larch Hill House with removal to St Fergal's Church, Camross, for funeral Mass at St Patrick's Church, Kiltegan followed by burial in the Society Cemetery.
