Ballyfin Vintage & Veteran Club is holding their annual ploughing in Coolnamona, Ballyfin at 12 noon on Bank Holiday Monday March 28. An entry fee of €20 will apply for each plot. Visitors and spectators are free and are welcome to come along. Proceeds going in support of local charities. At a well attended meeting in The Macra Hall in Mountrath on February 18 last, Mountrath Men’s Sheds was formally set up. The following are the elected officers of the New Committee - Chairperson; Pauric Tobin - Secretary; Fr Joe Brophy - Treasurer; Seamus Burke. Committee members were also elected. A programme planning meeting to confirm what the main interests of the members are and how we would like to see the shed develop has been fixed for Tuesday, March 8, in the Macra Hall (Main St) and will begin at 9pm
If you have an interest in developing a vibrant Men’s Shed in Mountrath and surrounding area we hope you will come to this meeting and share your ideas with us. There will be a coffee day in The St. Vincent de Paul Shop on Main Street, Mountrath, (opposite the Bank Of Ireland) on March 12 from 10.30 a.m. to 5p.m. This day is being hosted by the St. Vincet de Paul Youth conference from Mountrath Community School. We welcome everyone in for a cup of coffee and some cake, so please drop in and support the efforts of the Youth conference. All donations greatly appreciated. We continue to accept and welcome any items for recycling i.e. clothing, bedding, shoes etc, that are no longer fit for use.
