PICTURES: Laois business successful afternoon tea fundraiser for injured Daniel Wolski

A number of Laois businesses have held or supported local fundraisers in aid of injured Portlaoise man Daniel Wolski.

Daniel suffered instant paralysis when he fell off a wall while on holiday in Tenerife on August 1, he spent a month in intensive care in a Spanish hospital and underwent two serious surgeries.

Helen and staff at G's Gourmet Jams in Abbeyleix organised the fundraiser because staff Iwona and Marek Lipniewicz and Dorota Mazik are friends of Daniel's family.

A great day was had at the fundraiser on Wednesday and an amazing €4,500 was raised.

Helen Gee thanked everyone who helped.

“Three of our staff members are friends with Daniel’s parents. It was a really good day, we had great sponsorship and a huge effort went into it. Thanks to everyone who came along and donated money or prizes to the raffle. There was fantastic support locally, absolutely brilliant,” Helen said.

The Killeshin Hotel raised €2,500 for Daniel. The online fundraiser has raised €21,000. See picturesd of the afternoon tea event in the gallery above. Pictures by Alf Harvey.
