Love to bring Laois together at Portlaoise St Valentine's party

Love will be in the air in Laois just after St Valentine's day when an organisation that fosters integration hosts a ‘Dinner & Disco’ Valentine’s event in Portlaoise.

Tickets are now on sale for the event being run by an organisation called ‘Dignity Partnership’  which works to integrate people from refugee and migrant backgrounds.

Rosey Kunene, founder of Dignity Partnership which is organising the event in the Killeshin Hotel.

"We are really looking forward to this special event.  'Love Is In The Air Dinner & Disco' celebrates love in a warm, friendly and fun atmosphere. This event is aimed at bringing communities together and promoting small startups to exhibit their products/services thereby gaining more visibility," she said.

The organisers say they've planned lots of entertaining activities. They say these will feature ancient love stories from different cultural backgrounds (Irish, India, Ukraine, Zulu & Sotho), Mr & Ms Valentines; Best Dressed Couple; Best Dressed Singles; LOVE Poems; Games, raffle and of course lots of music. 

"Everyone is welcome at this special event. We are additionally seeking support from corporate organisations to purchase a table for six. These tickets will be offered to the most vulnerable people in our community, the older people living alone, people from a refugee / asylum seekers background or any person from a low income background who needs to get out and experience some love," concluded Ms Kunene.

The event takes place on Saturday, February 18 with tickets cost €40. The night includes include a three-course dinner and disco.
