Smashing concerts lined up for Laois at Portlaoise's Fort Festival

Local act Transmitter among the bands to feature.

Portlaoise is set to be throbbing with live music during the Old Fort Festival.

Apart from entertainment from well-known bands and acts, the Festival is also providing a platform for local talent involved with Music Generation Laois.

The evening music concerts take place at the Laois Music Centre in the old Scoil Mhuire school off Fitzmaurice Place.

“Bigger and better than ever, we have four nights of music lined up this year with music local artists and renowned performers. Get ready to dance the night away,” say the organisers.

Thursday, June 22 features The Whistling Donkeys, accompanied by the brilliant sounds of The Dooley Brothers.

On the second day of the 2023 Old Fort Quarter Festival, the stage will come alive with a captivating performance by Qween, supported by the incredible talents of Showdown: The ELO Experience.

The Old Fort weekend music offering is also set to thrill.

“Get ready to experience an electrifying live performance by John Gibbons, accompanied by the brilliant Marty Guilfoyle & Atlas, providing incredible support,” say the organisers.

Some familiar faces take to the stage at the Laois Music Centre Sunday.

“To close the weekend get ready for an unforgettable fourth day of the 2023 Old Fort Quarter Festival, featuring an incredible double header.

“Prepare to be enthralled by the dynamic performances of Transmitter and Smash Hits, delivering an electrifying night of music and entertainment,” say the organisers.

On Sunday, the Music Generation Laois venue will host the Youth Music Gathering with bands from all over Ireland descending on Portlaoise from 12pm – 5pm.
