Be amazNatural beauty of peatlands features
Art inspired by peatlands nature features in a first immersive Laois exhibition at the Dunamaise Arts Centre Gallery throughout February in Portlaoise.
The Dunamaise team says Peatlands is an installation that explores the ecological treasures that are the peatlands and wetlands of Ireland and amplifies the extraordinary species found within.
The team says a ten-minute looped film combines animated paintings, photography, field recordings, sound sculpture and video into a transmedia essay, narrated through the voice of the natural and built worlds.

Peatlands will host a Gallery Reception and Artist Talk on Friday, February 9 at from 7pm where you can experience the immersive, audio-visual installation.
This wll feature talks by, Tina Claffey - Artist/photographer, Des Finnamore from Abbeyleix Bog Project, Community Wetlands Forum / Irish Rural Link - Connecting Communities with Peatlands.
The event is free but places are limited so please book ahead via www.dunamaise.ie or call 057 8663355.
Peatlands continues at Dunamaise Arts Centre Gallery through to Sunday 3 March. The gallery is open each day from 1pm to 5pm Tuesday to Saturday and evenings of events.
The installation is best viewed after dark. Visitors can contact Dunamaise staff for more info or to arrange a visit ahead of time for small groups.
The event is funded by Creative Ireland Laois, Laois County Council, and the Arts Council of Ireland.
