The Irish actress Ruth Codd has been confirmed as one of the big names joining the celebrity edition of the hit BBC TV show The Traitors this autumn.

The Wexford actress has enjoyed great success in recent years, starring in major Netflix series such as The Midnight Club and The Fall of the House of Usher. Codd also has a huge following on TikTok with over 165,000 followers.

This isn't her first experience with reality TV as she has took part in Celeb Cooking School on Channel 4 last year. The Wexford native finished in third place and gained a lot of fans from her stint in the show for her hilarious antics.

Now, Codd is set to join 18 other celebrities such as actor and broadcaster Stephen Fry, singer Charlotte Church and TV presenter Kate Garraway on Celebrity Traitors.

Other stars confirmed for the upcoming series include comedian Alan Carr, actress Celia Imrie, singer Cat Burns, Olympian Tom Daley, former England rugby star Joe Marler, presenter Johnathan Ross and singer Paloma Faith.

Eastenders star Tameka Empson is also part of the line-up along with Shetland star Mark Bonnar, broadcaster Clare Balding, TV star Lucy Beaumont, film-maker and historian David Olusoga, comedians Nick Mohammed and Joe Wilkinson, and influencer Niko Omilana.

The charity spin-off series will see the 19 celebrities gather in the Scottish Highlands for what has been described as the "ultimate game of deceit and betrayal" where each celebrity will have the chance to win a cash prize of up to £100,000 (€119,000) for their charity.

The nine-part show will be hosted by Claudia Winkleman and will follow the contestants as they take part in a series of challenges and try to detect the traitors in the group. If the traitor is among the finalists at the end of the series, the rest of the finalists lose out on the money and the traitor takes the home all the money.
