The cash was won on Tuesday, August 5, according to the National Lottery.

The player was playing an online gambling game called Relic Fortunes, which costs €5 to enter.

The unnamed Laois person won the maximum prize in the game, which is similar to scratching a scratch card to reveal matching symbols.

"Winner Alert! A player from Co. Laois won €100,000 playing Relic Fortunes on Tuesday 5th August!" is the notification on the website.
