Two Laois locals are set to appear on First Dates Ireland this week- will they find their perfect matches?

Devoted Liverpool supporter Caoimhe Moore from Portlaoise says that she is searching for someone kind to ‘listen to her yap’.

When the 21 year old isn't studying to be a secondary school teacher, she works in the Sally Gardens in Portlaoise.

Caoimhe is paired with 'dad joke' cracking Will (23) from Leixlip- can their shared obsession with mini eggs prepare her to overlook that he is a huge Chelsea fan?

Also set to feature in this week's episode is Stradbally thirty-nine year old Cavan Dunne. The rugby playing Dad says that he is looking for his 'lobster', as Pheobe from Friends would say. Will he find this in Polish born bus driver Marcin (40) from Inchicore?

"I love watching First Dates Ireland, and while I was watching the show with my friend Niamh last year, she told me I'd be mad not to go for it," Caoimhe told the Leinster Express / Laois Live.

"I laughed it off and we looked through the application for fun. My whole motto last year was to say, 'why not, just go for it', so low and behold I did," she laughed.

The 21 year old felt the nerves ahead of her date, but there was one thing on her mind before she entered the Gibson hotel.

"That morning it felt surreal that I was actually doing it! All I could think about was opening the door- I've gotten the ick so many times from seeing people struggle and opening the wrong one- I was so scared it'd happen to me!" Caoimhe laughed.

"I was so excited to take part in First Dates, especially as such a big fan. I know when I watch the episode, it will be like seeing myself in a movie. It's very easy to forget you're being filmed during the date, so it was very natural that way," she said.

Caoimhe shared that her family have been immensely supportive of her taking part in the programme.

"At first my Mam was taken aback that I had applied, but she was so excited for me when she saw how much I was looking forward to it," she said.

Though the episode will premiere on a college night, the Portlaoise student is excited for her watch party.

"I sound so old saying this, but it's a college night so we won't be going out- the girls are going to come over with pizza, I think they're almost more excited than I am!" Caoimhe joked.

The student teacher recommends any Laois locals who are have considered applying to just go for it.

"It was my first formal and blind date, I have only been in one relationship before. What I loved was that the opportunity pushes you outside of your comfort zone and it helps your confidence. The crew were so lovely and supportive."

Both daters had great banter with fellow Laois man Neil Kenna, the star barman on the show.

"It's always great to see a fellow Laois person!" Caoimhe said.

For Caoimhe, First Dates Ireland was just one of the many exciting things she enjoyed last year.

"It was so funny, but I had to run straight from my pre-date interview to a Zach Bryan concert last year, I did the interview dressed up to go to the gig," she laughed.

"I can't wait to see the episode!" she finished.

Stradbally man Cavan decided to apply for First Dates after an unsuccessful run of dating.

"I wasn't too nervous going in, I had the weeks and days of counting down to build up to it," Cavan told the Leinster Express / Laois Live.

"You forget you're being recorded, the cameras are so well hidden. You just end up enjoying your date without being conscious, the crew make you feel so comfortable before you even go in. When I walked out I actually thought to myself, what did I even ramble on about? because it just felt so natural," he said.

"I was single and decided that it was time to take it out of my own hands and give the matching to someone else to do- I said I'd be more successful that way," he laughed.

Cavan says that he had an amazing time filming First Dates Ireland, and recommends everyone to apply for the RTÉ dating show.

"It really was such a fantastic experience. The production team and the matchmaker were amazing, all the Zoom calls and conversations were brilliant. It was all really good and so much fun, the whole atmosphere among the daters is such good vibes," Cavan explained.

"Whether you're looking to just meet new people or find the love of your life, I really would recommend the experience to anyone. Especially if you don't take yourself too seriously and want to get out of your comfort zone! It's so much fun to meet someone new in this way, you have a great time and feel so much more confident having done it.

"I might be watching the TV through my hands at some parts, but I'm really excited to see it!" he said.

The Stradbally man works in hospitality and business tourism in Kildare, and his love for rugby was something he found later in life.

"I was in my mid thirties looking for a way to make new friends, I ended up picking the sport that gets you beat up the road," he laughed.

"It's scary rocking up to training not knowing anyone, but it was fantastic. I made great friends for life, and I have a great love for the sport.

"I went into this looking for someone to watch a game of rugby and have a pint with- you'll have to watch the episode to see how it went!" Cavan finished.
