On parade in Portlaoise.

Would you like to be part of the St Patrick's Day Festival in Portlaosie? If so the organisers want to hear from you to take part in the parade.

Plans are underway and the organising committee is now looking for local clubs and groups to step forward to take part in the biggest parade in Laois on March 17.

If you are part of a local group or club in the Portlaoise community and want to take part in this years parade you can email the committee to let them know you would like to take part.

Emails can be sent to portlaoisepdp@gmail.com and anyone in a club or group can express their interest in taking part in the parade there.

The parade will kick off at 12:30pm on St. Patrick’s Day, Saturday, March 17 this year.

A prize giving ceremony is usually held every April for parade participants.

Last year, the parade was a huge success despite the weather.

The morning started with the Streets of Portlaoise Road races, and a vintage motor run, before the parade kicked off at 12:30pm from County Hall.

The parade went down JFL Avenue to the church and then up Main Street to the Top Square past the viewing stand, ending on the Mountrath Road and a street festival continued until 5pm.

Updates will be released in the next couple of weeks outlining more details of the parade this year.
