Mexican food lovers in Laois can now enjoy a tasty fresh burrito, with the opening of a new branch of an award winning food business in Portlaoise.
Zambrero, the Mexican-inspired fresh food restaurant, is holding its official launch this February, and giving away 100 free burritos to celebrate.
The restaurant opened last November in the Corrib Oil Shuttington Service Station at Fairgreen on the N80 Mountmellick Road.
The official launch takes place on Friday, February 21 with 100 free burritos, followed by a 2-for-1 deal for the rest of the day.
Another Mexican restaurant chain is also opening in Portlaoise.
The restaurant offers a range of burritos, bowls and nachos with tasty protein options and a variety of fillings and sauces. Vegan and vegetarian options are also on the menu.

Darragh Fanning is General Manager of Zambrero in Ireland.
“We are delighted to continue our growth in the midlands. Since November, the people of Portlaoise have been loving our feel-good Mex offering, and we’re excited to officially celebrate this location,” he said.
The chain has an admirable ethos to fight global hunger.
In addition to offering healthy Mexican-inspired cuisine, Zambrero remains dedicated to its Plate 4 Plate initiative, which ensures that for every burrito or bowl purchased, a meal is donated to someone in need through Zambrero's distribution partner, Rise Against Hunger. With each meal sold at Zambrero, customers can contribute to this impactful program and help fight global hunger.
Zambrero has been nominated for the Just Eat Awards 2024 in the Best Chain category, following its Silver win in 2023 as the second-best Mexican restaurant in Ireland. Additionally, Zambrero was one of four finalists for the Deliveroo 'Beating Heart of the Community' Award in 2023, recognizing its positive impact on local communities.
The new Portlaoise store is open from 11 am until 8:15 pm seven days a week.
