A Portlaoise based whiskey maker has been shortlisted for the prestigious Export Industry Awards.

The Irish Exporters Association has announced that Portlaoise-based Biggar and Leith has been shortlisted in the Sustainable Food and Drink Category for this year’s prestigious Export Industry Awards.

The Export Industry Awards recognise excellence across Ireland’s export sector.

Portlaoise based US company Biggar and Leith are the makers of Shanky’s Whip Irish Black Whiskey Liqueur.

The business has offices in the UK, New Jersey USA, and Co. Dublin.

This year, there are 12 award categories at the Export Industry Awards., ranging from manufacturing to life sciences, covering topics such as sustainability and innovation.

The category winners and the 2025 Overall Exporter of the Year will be announced at the 23rd Export Industry Awards and Gala Dinner on October 3 at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre.

“The Export Industry Awards are a celebration of the remarkable achievements of Ireland’s exporters," said Simon McKeever, CEO of the IEA on the announcement.

"I would like to congratulate all shortlisted companies on this outstanding accomplishment.

"The companies have not only demonstrated exceptional innovation and resilience but have also set a benchmark for excellence in the export sector," Mr McKeever finished.

The shortlisted companies will also have an opportunity to participate in the IEA Masterclass given by Trinity Executive Education on June 16.

The Masterclass aims to support exporting companies and those who support the industry, in developing adaptive strategies
for fast changing international markets.

The Awards are supported by Platinum sponsors KPMG Ireland and Trinity Executive Education, Trinity College Dublin and Corporate sponsors and partners: Ace Express Freight, Bord Bia, Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Dixon International Logistics, Enterprise Ireland,  InterTradeIreland, Descartes Thyme and Moffett Automation.

Live judging will take place in early September and the winners will be announced at the Export Industry Awards
Ceremony and Gala Dinner in Dublin.

"The Irish Exporters Association’s Export Industry Awards in its 23rd year is the premier event for recognising the achievements of Irish Exporters and has been growing in strength and recognition each year," organisers said.

"It is important that we highlight the exporting companies and service providers who have excelled across the industry despite some difficult trading conditions and that we highlight these companies who have been fundamental to Ireland’s success.

"Exporting businesses have been an essential part of Ireland’s global success despite incredibly difficult international trade conditions over recent years. The Export Industry Awards allows us to celebrate those Irish businesses that continue to succeed in an increasingly uncertain world and who have been fundamental to Ireland’s success," organisers finished.

Over 500 export industry professionals will attend the black-tie gala event on October 3 at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre.
