Pictured: Quinn's Cafe in Abbeyleix will open on Friday July 25
A well known Laois business that sadly closed their doors six years ago have announced their shock reopening.
Quinn's Tearooms in Abbeyleix closed due to a fire in 2019. Established as a family business in 1983, the café will reopen this week under new management.
Business partners Nick Soomaree and Theo Deeac will run the rebranded Quinn's Café, and are excited to welcome customers through their doors.
"We have been working in the industry for a long time, we have been friends for the last 17 years," Mr Soomaree told the Leinster Express / Laois Live.
"We worked in Castle Durrow together for 12 years, and worked in The Thatch in Killenard. We were looking to open our own business. We know the Quinn family very well, and when they approached us we decided, why not. If you don't try, you'll never know," he said.
The pair explained that since the news of their opening, people far and wide have called by the café to know when they will reopen.
"People are very excited, we have had loads of people call by since we started the works a few weeks ago," Mr Deeac said.
"Every day people come to the door asking when we will open, they are lreally ooking forward to it. We have had people at the door from Durrow, Abbeyleix, Rathdowney, Ballyroan and Ballinakill, it's great seeing people so excited."
The café plans to offer a wide range of tasty treats, along with breakfast and lunch options.
"In the future, we hope to also do dinners in the future," the pair said.
Despite the damage caused by the 2019 fire that forced the business to close, the Quinn family and the business partners have worked hard to restore the café to its prime.
"The building was painted and cleared up, we just had to sort all of the furniture and install the appliances," Mr Soomaree said.
"Outside, we have put out benches and stones, and flower boxes to brighten the place up. It looks lovely at the minute," he explained.
The café will open on Friday at 9am, Saturday at 8:30am, and Sunday at 9am.
"We aren't setting our opening hours in stone yet, we will see what the demand is like for the first few weeks," Mr Deeac explained.
"We will work by the demand and the market, but we will definitely offer breakfast and lunch. We will be staying open until 5pm in the beginning, and we will open on the August Bank Holiday Monday with a good variety of food!" he said.
The pair wished to thank the Quinn family for the opportunity, and the local community for their support.
"It means a lot that they have put such trust in us to reopen their family business. We are excited to welcome in customers on Friday!" Mr Soomaree finished.
Quinn's Café, formerly Quinn's Tea Rooms, will open on Friday July 25.
