Portlaoise Shopping Centre off the Mountmellick Road in Portlaoise
Appeals have been issued after a well known Portlaoise shop was burgled overnight and a second store was broken into in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Gardaí said a brick was thrown through the front window of Dowlings Newsagent beside Dunnes Stores at the Portlaoise Shopping Centre off the Mountmellick Road at some time between 1.45am and 4.30am this morning.
The culprit or culprits entered the shop and stole cash, cigarettes and scratch cards from the popular store.
Portlaoise Gardaí are appealing for information and would like to speak to anyone who has dashcam, CCTV footage or who witnessed anything suspicious in the area.
Meanwhile, at around 1am on the morning of Wednesday, January 21, a store at Meehan House on James Fintan Lalor Avenue in Portlaoise was burgled.
Gardaí said those responsible broke through a side window of the store and gained entry to a till. However, there was no cash in the till. The culprit or culprits stole baby wipes and left the premises.
Gardaí are again appealing to anyone with information or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage from the area in or around the time of the burglary.
