Another big Laois business is turning green to secure their own electricity supply.
Last week a planning application was lodged for solar photo voltaic panels to cover a third of the rooftop of a Portlaoise shopping centre. (see below).
This week a similar application has been lodged with Laois County Council by Shaw & Sons Limited.
The Laois based department store chain is seeking to install panels on the roof of their Portlaoise department store in Kylekiproe.
Their plan is "to develop a proposed green energy initiative development consisting of the installation of photovoltaic panels on the existing roof structures together with all associated site works".
The application was submitted on March 9, with a planning decision due in early May.
