Christmas tree sale is vital for supporting the Laois services that help local people

Laois people are once again being offered a chance to support vital local services by buying quality Irish natural Christmas trees for the festive season.

The annual Portlaoise Lions Club and Cuisle Centre Christmas tree sale takes place this year at the Equestrian Centre beside District A Gym, off the Timahoe Rd, Portlaoise Eircode R32 HY05.

Trees will be for sale on the following days:

  • Thursday - Saturday, December 4 to 6 11 am - 4 pm
  • Sunday, December 7, 2 pm - 4:30 pm
  • Thursday - Saturday, December 11 to 13, 11am - 4pm
  • Sunday, December 14, 2 pm - 4:30 pm
  • Thursday - Saturday, December 18 - 20, 11 am - 4 pm.

The Portlaoise Lions Club supports the local community through various services and fundraising projects, such as their annual food appeal, Christmas voucher scheme, and supporting local groups like Laois Hospice and Portlaoise Tidy Towns.

They also engage in environmental initiatives, youth programs, and have provided international disaster relief and support. The club's motto is "We Serve," and they focus on improving the civic, cultural, social, and moral welfare of the community.

The Cuisle Cancer Support Centre provides free, confidential support and a range of services to people with cancer, their families, and carers.

Its services include emotional support through counseling, practical advice from a welfare officer, and complementary therapies such as massage and acupuncture. The center is a registered charity that relies on donations and aims to provide a safe and welcoming environment for everyone affected by cancer, from diagnosis through recovery and beyond.
