The vital work of Laois Hospice is set for a festive boost this year, if people opt to go green and buy a real Christmas tree in aid of the charity.

Portlaoise Lions Club has announced that once again they will be selling real Christmas trees this December, and Laois Hospice is the charity who will receive all the proceeds.

The Christmas Tree sale will take place at the KWS Complex (beside Laois Hire) on the Timahoe Road in Portlaoise.

Volunteers will be giving their time to sell the trees, starting on Friday and Saturday, December 2 and 3, from 11am to 4pm, and on Sunday December 4 from 2pm to 4.30pm.

From Thursday to Saturday, December 8 to 10, they are on sale from 11am to 4pm, and on Sunday December 11 from 2 to 4pm. Final days of the sale are from Thursday to Saturday, December 15 to 17.

Since its inception in 1989, Laois Hospice Foundation has helped to provide a palliative care service for Cancer patients, whose illness no longer responds to curative treatment.

The Hospice also provides support for the families of such patients. This total care involves doctors, nurses, a team of specialists and the clergy, who are all concerned with quality of life.
