There's no bah humbug on the team at Portlaoise Library who have lined up some special events to get you in the festive mood in the run up the Christmas.
They hope you can join them for Literature at Eleven Christmas Poetry Circle where you can listen to poetry readings by staff members or feel free to bring along and read a poem of your own!
It takes place on Thursday, December 8 at 11am.
Children’s Author Juliette Saumande will be visiting Portlaoise, Family Time at Your Library with a story and short craft session on Saturday, 10th December at 1.00pm.
The topic of the session will be The Baby Dragon: “Once there was a baby dragon who lived in a cave with her mammy. She’d never been out of the cave and the cave was all she knew. But one night, Baby Dragon noticed there was something different..."
So why not join writer Juliette this December for a cosy tale of cold winters and shiny dragons, and after the story, you will be able to make your very own touchy-feely dragon! Booking essential.
There's also a classic Christmas film waiting for you. The Library is screening the 1949 romantic comedy ‘A Holiday Affair’ Starring Janet Leigh and Robert Mitchum taking place on Wednesday, December 14 at 11.30am.
Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without Carols. Portlaoise Library is hosting the Portlaoise Active Retirement Group for a selection of of Christmas songs on Thursday, December 15 at 11am.
Check into the Teddy Bear Hotel at Portlaoise Library and see what awaits and the Christmas elf will be ready to take your booking!
Check in your teddy between 3.00pm-4.00pm on Thursday, December 15 and see what sort of mischief your teddy has got up to say the Library team.
You can also go to the Library for a festive family storytime and craft table on Saturday, December 17 at 11.00am.
Christmas Story Competition for Kids is also on the menu. Children will be invited to write a Christmas themed story of 500 words or less. You can drop your tale to Portlaoise Library before the Saturday, December 17.
The children's Christmas movie Elf will be screened on Wednesday, December 21 at 5.00pm. Refreshments will be served; taking place on All are welcome.
