Durrow is reducing its carbon footprint this Christmas without loosing any of the festive atmosphere that Christmas lights bring.
Working with our own environmental policy and Durrow Tidy Towns, the Durrow Development Forum has replaced a lot of the lighting with LED lights which is great for our community.
They say its a huge task and a lot of work has gone into the project which couldn't happen without Jim Clancy, Pat Farrell and the CES scheme who are the chief installers.
It’s a huge task, a large area and a lot of work behind the scenes says the Forum who thanked the CE scheme workers for their efforts.
Meanwhile, the Community Council are responsible for the Durrow Christmas Tree who are also praised for their efforts.
"We hope all our younger (and older) residents are writing their letters to Santa and that he will arrive as usual, after 6am on Christmas Morning," added the forum.
Meanwhile, the Tidy Towns Committee in Durrow is holding a Christmas Cake Sale on Sunday, December 11 from 11am to 1pm in the CES office. The is also holding their annual Christmas Fundraising Raffle Supporting Tidy Towns projects. Tickets are now available in St. Canices Credit Union, Kenna Butchers, Durrow Post Office and from committee members and volunteers.
