Laois Garda have been out in force on the roads over the bank holiday weekend.
They detected a number of drivers exceeding the speed limit in Arles on Friday.
“Laois Roads Policing Unit acting on local concerns conducted speed enforcement checks in Arles village yesterday,” Gardai said on Saturday.
“A number of vehicles were detected well above the 50kph limit. Fixed Charge Notices have been issued to the drivers,” they added.
Meanwhile, Laois Gardai mounted checkpoints elsewhere in the county.
“Gardai at Abbeyleix and Durrow Garda Stations were out conducting checkpoints at various locations today in an effort to promote safer driving this bank holiday weekend.
We encourage all road users this bank holiday weekend to plan your journey in advance, don’t drive under the influence, stick to the speed limits and watch out for vulnerable road users including pedestrians, cyclists, horse riders and motorcyclists,” Gardai said.
