Illegal parking in a disabled bay is a “nasty offence,” a sitting of Portlaoise District Court was told.

John Harty with an address at 17 Derrymore, Portarlington wasn’t in court where he was accused of parking in a disabled bay at N80, Kylekiproe, Portlaoise on December 1, 2022.

The court heard a 10G Volkswagen Passat registered to the defendant was discovered parked in a disabled bay without a permit at 6.25pm on the date in question. A fine was issued but went unpaid.

“It is a nasty offence to park in a disabled person parking bay,” said Judge John O’Leary.

He fined the man €400 and fixed recognisance in case of appeal.
