A man accused of being ‘drunk and  disorderly’ at Portlaoise Train Station claimed he had been ‘spiked’.

Aaron Kelleher, 22, of 28 Fairview, South Douglas Road, Co Cork  is accused of being intoxicated and engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour at Portlaoise Train Station on January 14, 2024.

Judge Andrew Cody outlined the allegation for the defendant who appeared via video link.

He explained it was alleged “you were drunk and disorderly at Portlaoise Train Station on the 14th of January.”

The defendant said he didn’t recall drinking on the date.

“I think I was spiked to be honest with you,” he said.

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby urged the defendant to get legal advice.

Judge Andrew Cody granted legal aid, assigned a solicitor and adjourned the matter back to Portlaoise District Court on February 28.
