Man appeared at Portlaoise District Court
A book of evidence was served on a man who is accused of sexual assault in Laois.
The man (48), who cannot be named due to reporting restrictions, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a location in Laois on August 11, 2021.
The man was served with a book of evidence at a sitting of Portlaoise District Court.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the book of evidence contained two counts of sexual assault and the DPP had directed that the case be sent forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court.
Judge Nicola Andrews ordered that the case be sent forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court sitting on October 29 and imposed reporting restrictions in the case.
She granted legal aid to solicitor Philip Meagher and one counsel and remanded the defendant on continuing bail subject to conditions.
