A special Garda crackdown on "hotspots" for traffic violations in Mountrath, Laois this October, has resulted in a litany of offences detected.
Laois Offaly Garda Division has given a damning list of the illegal driver offences they caught over the month, including catching 22 drivers with no car tax.
"This October, Gardaí from Mountrath Garda Station, with strong community support, targeted local hotspots for traffic violations. Thanks to this collaboration, several drivers have been held accountable through detections and enforcement actions."
In three cases of finding uninsured drivers, they seized the vehicles and the three deivers are facing court proceedings.
Two disqualified drivers found behind the wheel were arrested and charged.

The Gardaí issued 44 Fixed Charge Penalty Notices.

Two were for the offence of Driving Without Due Care and Attention. Four are for Parking in Disability Spaces Without a Permit.

Seven are for Using a Mobile Phone While Driving. Three were issued to people with a Child Not in Child Seat.

One was issued for a vehicle speeding at 83 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

A further five were issued for Non-Display of Insurance, and a whopping 22 for Non-Display of Tax.

"Thank you to everyone who continues to report these issues. Mountrath Gardaí are dedicated to road safety through both education and enforcement of traffic laws. Stay safe on the roads," Laois Gardaí said.
