Gardaí issue appeal to 'Never Ever Drink and Drive' after incident in Portarlington 

Arrest made at Laois Garda checkpoint over suspected drink driving

Gardaí in Laois were conducting checkpoints this weekend and made an arrest in Portarlington over suspected drink driving. 


"Laois Roads Policing Unit arrested the driver of this vehicle who failed a roadside breath test at a Mandatory Intoxicant checkpoint in Portarlington. A prosecution against this driver has commenced. Never Ever Drink & Drive," said Laois Gardaí. 


It comes as Gardaí in Laois have been targeting  "hotspots" for traffic violations. Laois Offaly Garda Division revealed that throughout the month of October Gardaí in Mountrath issued 44 fines and made numerous arrests.This included catching 22 drivers with no car tax.
