Safe, jewellery and cash stolen in two Laois burglaries

Gardaí at Portlaoise Garda Station are appealing for information

Burglaries in Mayo up 17 percent

Gardaí have issued appeals in relation to two burglaries which took place in Laois yesterday. 

The first burglary occurred at Kilalooghan, Stradbally on Wednesday between 1pm and 2pm on Wednesday, December 4. 

Gardaí said a rear window of an unoccupied house was broken and the burglars made off with a quantity of jewellery and mens watches which included Gshock and Seiko models. 

A white VW Caddy van was seen acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the burglary. 

Elsewhere, gardaí said a small safe was taken from a property at Clarney Hall in Rathdowney between 5pm and 6pm on Wednesday. 

Gardaí said the burglars gained access at the rear of the unoccupied house and stole a small safe and a quantity of cash from the house. The property was ransacked during the burglary. 

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or has any information to contact them at Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 867 4100.
