Multiple break-ins of cars have been reported from Ballinakill in County Laois, prompting Gardaí to remind locals to remain vigilant.
On Friday, January 17 a car in Heywood school carpark had a window smashed in, with a handbag stolen from the car. The incident occurred between 4.25pm and 5pm.
A second theft was reported from a car in Ballinakill on Saturday January 18 at the Ballinakill Mart.
A car was left unlocked, with over €80 in coins stolen.
Gardaí have urged locals to take necessary steps to ensure their safety.
"Remember to remove all valuables from your vehicle – don’t leave temptation on display. Lock your car every time, even if you’re just stepping away for a moment. Double-check that windows and doors are secured before you walk away," a representative said.
"Together, we can help prevent these incidents from happening again. Let’s work as a community to keep our streets safe," they finished.
