Man allegedly had mdma, a tablet maker and was cultivating cannabis in Laois

A female co-accused was charged with allegedly laundering €16,250 in cash

Man remanded on €35,000 Laois drugs charge

Portlaoise District Court

A man appeared in court accused of cultivating cannabis and possessing MDMA for sale or supply. 

Sean Moore (54) of Ross, Rathdowney is accused of cultivating cannabis without a licence and possession of MDMA and cannabis for sale or supply at Upper Ross. He is also accused of possessing benzocaine and a tablet maker. The defendant is further accused of  having Clonazalam for sale or supply at Upper Ross on April 24, 2024. 

Elanor Lonergan (33) of Rossadarragh, Rathdowney was described in court as a co-accused in the case. She faced a single charge of money laundering for allegedly possessing €16,250 in cash at her address on April 24, 2024. 

The court was told the cases are to proceed on indictment in the higher circuit court. 

Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said Mr Moore was in receipt of disability. He requested legal aid in the case. 

Anne Doyle BL representing the second accused said her client wasn’t working. She too requested legal aid in the matter.  

Judge Susan Fay granted legal aid to the defendants and remanded both accused on bail with conditions to appear again before Portlaoise District Court on April 28 for service of a book of evidence.
