Major warning to walkers at Laois beauty spot after worrying reports during hot spell
A warning has been issued to walkers parking cars at the popular Derryounce Lakes & Trails on the Laois-Offaly border after reports of thefts and suspicious activity.
The popular amenity has seen a surge in footfall during the recent dry spell but a number of vehicle parked in the on-site carpark there have been targeted by thieves.
These worrying reports have prompted the facility to issue a warning to car owners.
In a post on social media, the Derryounce Experience page advised people to "be careful" when visiting the beauty spot.

They advised: "Please be careful. Following reports from car owners, when parking at Derryounce Lakes and Trails (all entrances), please ensure to lock your vehicle no matter where it is parked.
"Do not store valuables in the car, but if you do have to, keep them out of sight." Suspicious or criminal behaviour spotted at the site or around the carparks should be reported to An Garda Síochána.
