Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise
A woman was ordered to stay out of Portlaoise except for court or hospital appointments.
Sarah Cloherty (38) with an address at a B&B in Mullingar, Co Westmeath but who told a sitting of Portlaoise District Court that she is staying at The Green, Stradbally, is accused of obstructing a peace officer at Portlaoise Hospital on June 5 last.
The woman is also accused of being intoxicated and engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour at Portlaoise Hospital Accident and Emergency department on June 7 last. She was further charged with being intoxicated and engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour at Portlaoise Hospital on June 25, 2025.
Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said he believed there was consent to bail. He said the woman was now living in Strabally.
Garda Rebecca Gavin said she had no objection to bail and she confirmed she knew the address in Stradbally where the woman was residing. She asked as part of her bail, “if she could stay out of Portlaoise and reside in Stradbally.”
Judge Andrew Cody noted there was agreement to the bail terms.
“I relapsed and I am not doing too well with my mental health,” the accused told Judge Cody.
He ordered that she stay out of the town of Portlaoise save for hospital and court appointments. He granted bail and adjourned the matter back to Portlaoise District Court on July 14.
