Laois Gardaí confirmed they received a number of reports about a car driving the wrong way on the M7 Motorway this afternoon.
Gardaí responded to the incident which occurred between Junction 17 and Junction 18 in Portlaoise between 12 noon and 1pm.
The car is understood to have exited the incorrect side of motorway by the time Gardaí had reached the scene.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland(TII) issued a warning on social media to road users shortly after midday.
