Man in court in connection with €8.1 million drug seizure

The man appeared before Portlaoise District Court

Over €8 million worth of cocaine seized during major garda operation in the Midlands

A court was told directions are awaited in the case of a man who was arrested in connection with seizure of drugs valued at €8.1 million.   

Thomas Ryan, (39) of Wood View, Boulick, Gortnahoe, Thurles, Co Tipperary, is accused of possessing cocaine for sale or supply at Killnaseer, Rathdowney, Laois on October 28 last. 

Detective Garda Stephen Gillespie said “we would be looking for four weeks for DPPs directions.” 

Judge Susan Fay adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on December 15 for DPP directions. She said the defendant can appear via video link on that date.
