Man accused of attempted robbery in Portlaoise

A man appeared in court accused of attempted robbery in Portlaoise. 

Robert Dwane (31) of 25 Mountain View, Portlaoise, is accused of attempted robbery and production of an industrial pliers at Mountmellick Road, Portlaoise on October 4 and at Greenmill Lane, Portlaoise, on September 28, 2025. He is also accused of possession of drugs at O’Moore Place on October 13, 2025. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the DPP had directed that the allegations of attempted robbery and possession of an article should be heard in the circuit court. 

Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick said there was no application for bail.

Judge Susan Fay remanded the defendant in custody and adjourned the matter back to Portlaoise District Court on December 8 by video link.
