Laois Offaly Gardaí seize three vehicles as Christmas campaign continues
Laois Offaly Gardai seized three vehicles and continue to mount checkpoints as part of the Christmas Road Safety Campaign.
Gardaí said “yesterday, Offaly RPU(Roads Policing Unit) teamed up with Customs for a series of MIT checkpoints as part of our Christmas Road Safety Campaign.”
They seized two vehicles seized in Offaly and said one had no insurance and another was found using green diesel.
Meanwhile, Gardai said Laois Roads Policing Unit intercepted a car that turned away from a separate MIT checkpoint.
A quick stop confirmed the vehicle had no tax and no NCT and was seized.
“With increased traffic, festive gatherings, and winter conditions, these checks aren’t about catching people out. They’re about keeping our road networks safe for everyone.
Whether it’s fuel fraud, no insurance, or avoiding checkpoints, it all leads to the same place: Vehicles being taken off the road,” Gardaí stated.
They reminded people that both Laois and Offaly Roads Policing Unit will be out day and night this December checking vehicles, drivers and keeping communities safe.
