Compensation was handed over by a man who caused criminal damage to the windows of a house in Laois.

John Delaney (33) of Cardtown, Mountrath, appeared in court accused of causing criminal damage to a house and producing an article, a black pipe, at Bellview Court in Mountrath on November 7, 2022.

Solicitor Philip Meagher said his client had €250 in court which was the remainder of the €1,000 owed. He said the man had travelled from Mayo.

He noted the victim in the case was in court and had prepared a victim impact statement but said there appeared to be references in the statement that weren’t relevant. He requested time to look at the statement.

Judge Andrew Cody adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on February 12 for finalisation and a victim impact statement.
