Portlaoise District Court
A man is to face trial over an alleged assault in Portlaoise last November.
Miroslav Harakal (30) of 9505190/754 Vorlickova, 281 Doksy, Kladno, Czech Republic, is accused of assaulting a man causing harm at The Grange, Borris Road, Portlaoise on November 14, 2025.
He appeared before Portlaoise District Court where Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the case was due to proceed on indictment.
Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said his client had consent to bail but was unable to gather the money to take it up. He asked if the book of evidence would be ready in four weeks.
Mr Fitzgerald was told the book of evidence should be ready in four weeks. He requested a Czech interpreter for the next appearance.
Judge Susan Fay remanded the defendant in custody with consent to bail to appear again before Portlaoise District Court on February 16. She certified for an interpreter on the next occasion.
