Gardaí arrest a number of motorists in Laois over the Bank Holiday weekend

Gardaí arrested four people for driving under the influence in Laois over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Gardaí conducted checkpoints throughout the county during the St Brigid’s Bank Holiday weekend from Thursday, January 29 to Tuesday, February 3 at 7am. They tested drivers for both alcohol and illegal drugs at checkpoints. 

Gardaí arrested two people for driving under the influence in Borris-in-Ossory and a further two people were arrested for driving under the influence in Portlaoise over the weekend.  

In addition to dedicated Bank Holiday checkpoints and enforcement activity, every Garda on duty was tasked with conducting road traffic enforcement activity, Gardaí stated ahead of the weekend.
